Happiness

“If all the insects were to disappear from the earth, within 50 years all life on earth would end. If all human beings disappeared from the earth, within 50 years all forms of life would flourish.” -Jonas Salk

This quote made me think about human happiness. We all look for happiness.

However, the problem we up are against is the idea that happiness is found in things and objects. When we are born we live in wonder, everything around looks so magical, then soon after the magic dissipates.

We trade wonder and creativity for a stable job. We start denying our creativity, singing or dancing is not part of our curriculum anymore, because we need to work hard. Everything around us should be difficult in order to have some hope of success in the future.

Stress, anxiety, and worry become normal states and we buy into this idea of a perfect human, who can not make mistakes or show weakness. Part of creativity is making mistakes, learning and moving forward.

At the end of the day, we can fail at things we don’t like, so we can take a risk of building something we are passionate about. If more people will start noticing that the real creativity and happiness come from within, then I am convinced that the earth will flourish and nobody has to disappear.

Sometimes I find myself thinking about the future and innocently attaching my security and happiness to it.  I love visualising, dreaming about the future, but chasing the illusion of happiness is unnecessary and unhelpful. Even if I get the desired success I will have a different kind of problem and challenges.

Constantly living in the future – it’s like chasing a shadow that can never be reached because it doesn’t exist.

The only reason we do anything is that we have a strong belief and conviction that we will feel better.

Anything you want, in terms of experience, is available at this moment.

I feel exceptional in this moment, because it’s the only thing available and all abundance I need –  is now.
