Acknowledgement will go a long way!

Few years back we went to the Spanish Island called Lanzarote.
The next day after our arrival we met a French couple who loved playing ‘French balls’ (petanca). I have never played ‘petanca’ for such long periods of time, at times we were playing for hours.
The funny thing was: the guy didn’t speak English. He knew only few words. His wife was the translator and she spoke Basic English.
However, after a drink or two the translation wasn’t required.
There were many other French couples in the hotel, but somehow we have spent the whole seven days together.
At the end of the holiday they were very grateful for meeting us, because they did not feel judged and they felt acknowledged for their efforts.
I had tears in my eyes.
I grew up in a country which used to penalise mistakes without any explanation.
The efforts never got acknowledged. Slowly, the students stopped answering the questions, because nobody wanted to run the risk of being laughed at.
What if we acknowledge people for the work they are doing?
The acknowledgement can be in a form of a thank you.
For some people takes a huge effort to do things that other may consider easy.
In organisations today people need acknowledgement more than they need money.
Would you agree?
